Project ‘Breaking The Limit’ began from a casual chat with Ace on X. We’d been meaning to collaborate for a while, but it never quite happened — until I decided to create a one-clip edit for him. After pitching the idea a few weeks back, he politely agreed, though he didn’t know where any of his saved clips were. I told him I’d just grab one from his streams or YouTube channel, and he said, “Go for it.”
The Midlane Esports Partnership
This edit marks a special moment — we’re partnering with Midlane Esports, and we’re dedicating this piece to that partnership. Midlane Esports will be assisting with promotion and potentially hosting the finale for next year’s Frag Movie Art montage contest, making this project both a creative milestone and a celebration of collaboration.
Experimental Pacing & Visual Effects
For the edit itself, I experimented with a new sync style, slowing the clip dramatically and matching the pacing through effects rather than cuts. It gives the overkill moment more weight and lets every detail shine.
One of my favorite shots is the Ace card scene — the Spartan is AI-generated, and I manually tracked the card into his hand, rotoscoped the Spartan, and designed the card myself. The edit took around three weeks to complete, with most of the heavy lifting done within the first week — totaling about 50 hours of work. Everything was created entirely in After Effects, which I now use exclusively.
Audio Hurdles & Quality Enhancements
This edit was actually finished a while ago, but I held off on releasing it because Jynx was supposed to handle the sound design. Unfortunately, his sister took over his workstation, so we couldn’t collaborate as planned. The audio isn’t perfect, but I’m still really happy with how it turned out.
Since the source footage came directly from YouTube, the original quality wasn’t ideal. I ran it through Topaz and did additional manual enhancements to sharpen the visuals — but don’t expect anything too crazy quality-wise for this one.
Overall, I’m really proud of Breaking The Limit. It’s short, clean, and impactful — a creative experiment that also marks the beginning of an exciting partnership with Midlane Esports. I hope Ace enjoys it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
